Troubleshooting
Common problems with the picker, permissions and the site.
The picker stays blank or never opens
The browser is blocking Bynder. Add the Bynder hosts to the strapi::security directives in config/middlewares.ts (see Install), restart Strapi, and hard-reload the admin.
My portal is on a custom domain
Add the domain to the strapi::security directives next to https://*.bynder.com (img-src, media-src, frame-src, script-src), or the admin blocks its thumbnails and previews. The first time, log in to Bynder again in the picker: a login is tied to the portal domain.
“The Bynder portal URL is not set”
Open Settings, Bynder plugin, Configuration and fill in Portal URL, or set portalUrl in config/plugins.ts.
The picker asks me to log in
Log in with your Bynder account. If your portal allows public browsing, the picker opens straight on the asset bank.
Editors do not see the Bynder fields or settings
Check the role’s permissions: Settings, Administration Panel, Roles, then Plugins, bynder-media-library. Editors need Read. See Permissions.
The site shows a 404, or the API answers 403
The website is not allowed to read the content. Give the Public role find and findOne on the content types the site uses, or send an API token from the site. A fresh Strapi database allows nothing to the public.
A video does not play on the site
The stored file may be in a format browsers cannot play. Use a web-friendly version of the video in Bynder (MP4 with H.264 is the safe choice).
An image is too large on mobile
Ask Bynder for a smaller rendition: see Resize on delivery.
The rich text menu does not appear
Check the field’s options.preset matches the preset name you registered (bynderHtml in the examples), that the preset is registered in src/admin/app.tsx, and that you rebuilt the admin.
